The winter school ”New Frontiers in 2D materials: Approaches & Applications” will bring together young researchers - master/doctoral students as well as postdocs – involved in the developing field of novel 2D materials. The talks by selected renowned invited speakers will introduce the participants to the specific areas of current research in this fast expanding field and provide them with an overview of recent progress. At the same time, participants are strongly encouraged to present their own research results during a specially dedicated poster session.
The winter school will cover theoretical, experimental but also technological aspects of current research on novel 2D materials (graphene, silicene, transition-metal dichalcogenides, topological insulators & semiconductor nanostructures) and other emerging systems (multiferroics, materials for spintronics, semiconductor quantum dots and quantum fluids in polariton structures).

The 7th edition of Graphene Conference series, the largest European Event in Graphene and 2D Materials, will be organized in Barcelona (Spain) from the 28th until the 31st of March 2017. Over the past 6 editions, the Graphene Conference strengthened its position as the main meeting point of the Graphene community Worldwide.
This Edition will cover as usual the whole value chain of “Graphene innovation” from most recent of scientific discoveries to breakthroughs in large scale material production and integration towards the development of innovative and competitive commercial applications. Focus on energy applications, 2D electronic devices, advanced graphene composites, and spintronics will be included in the plenary sessions, whereas new dedicated parallel workshops will be focused on:
Workshop 1: Metrology, Characterization and Standardization
Workshop 2: Health and Medical Applications
Workshop 3: Theory & Simulation
Workshop 4: Energy Applications
Workshop 5: Production of 2D Materials and Electronics
Workshop 6: Worldwide Graphene Initiatives, Funding and Priorities
And for the first time two full-day INDUSTRIAL FORUM to first get the picture of the most advanced Graphene based technologies from worldwide industries, including progress in commercialization and alliances.

Since its first discovery in 2014, few layers black Phosphorus, as well as its monolayer, called phosphorene, attracted great interest in the scientific community because of its direct band gap, easily tuned with the number of layers, its high reactivity and its puckered structure, which lead to anisotropic transport properties.
Two years after the ”Fosforene day” in Florence (July 17th 2015), we are glad to invite you to 'Phosphorene and 2D companions' workshop in Rome. The workshop will be held on May 8th at the Sala Marconi of the Cnr Headquarter, Piazzale Aldo Moro 7, Rome.
This workshop has the double aim of sharing recent results on phosphorene and novel functional 2D materials, as well as increasing networking and demonstrate their vision of the road-map of these materials. There will be two plenary lectures, as well as several short contributions. We strongly invite you to submit an abstract on your recent work on 2D materials.

After the success of NanoInnovation 2016, the promoting Organizations, namely AIRI - Italian Association for Industrial Research and NanoItaly Association, have agreed to organize the second edition of the conference: NanoInnovation 2017.
NanoInnovation will take place on September, 26 - 29 in the Renaissance Cloister by Sangallo at the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering, Sapienza University of Rome.
NanoInnovation aims to represent the reference national event for the wide and multidisciplinary community involved in the development of nanotechnologies and in their integration with other enabling technologies (KETs) in all application fields. The event represents an unmissable opportunity of meeting among University, Research and Entrepreneurial systems, providing a discussion platform, where researchers, technologists, managers, entrepreneurs and investors can meet and share experiences, opinions and expectations about the growing role of nanotechnology in the KETs evolution toward a sustainable innovation from a social, environmental and economic point of view.
The Hub Innovation Trentino HIT together with the eit Raw Materials and the Graphene Flagship invite to the Graphene Composite Innovation Day taking place in Trento/Italy on Thursday, 12 October 2017, 8:30-18:30 CET.
The event is free of charge but registration is mandatory.

Significant advances have been recently made in the science of nano-carbon materials (nanotubes, graphene, nanodiamonds, fullerenes, nanoporous, cyclic nanotube rings (CPPs) and ribbons…). These developments do not only pertain to fundamental/basic studies but have also yielded tremendous progress in the development of technological applications. Following the steady growth and maturity of the field of nano-carbon research, which now includes significant industrial contributions, it becomes increasingly important for these communities to assemble and focus on scientific challenges.
The presence of dopants and surface modification in the otherwise pure carbon materials opens the possibility of tuning their properties (electronic, optoelectronic…) and in some cases in a controlled way. In addition, other layered inorganic materials, such as boron nitride, WS2, MoS2… are becoming increasingly important, due to properties absent in their pure carbon counterparts. This field of research is very dynamic and involves multidisciplinary areas ranging from chemistry, physics, materials science, and other prominent ones as biology and medicine due to the functional aspects of these nanomaterials. Thus, the impact of this field covers a significant number of potential applications as improved (bio)sensors, interconnectors (electronic), optoelectronic devices.
Following the success of the first two editions organized in 2013 and 2015 (HeteroNanoCarb13, HeteroNanoCarb15), HeteroNanoCarb17 will provide a unique forum for researchers, scientists, and engineers from different countries worldwide who are actively involved in the research on issues to disseminate their latest research results and development achievements. In addition to the exciting scientific and technological themes, the conference offers a platform to promote and encourage interaction among researchers for collaboration. To allow researchers from various stages of their career to take advantage of this event, the technical program will consist of a combination of invited, contributed oral, and poster presentations.
